Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream.
- Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the streusel topping by combining flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, then cutting in the cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over it.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
