Description

Blueberry Chia Jam is a delightful and healthy spread made from fresh blueberries and chia seeds, using chia seeds as a natural thickener.

Ingredients

  • Fresh blueberries: 2 cups (about 300 grams)
  • Chia seeds: 1/4 cup (about 40 grams)
  • Honey or maple syrup: 1/4 cup
  • Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon (freshly squeezed)
  • Water: 1/4 cup (optional)
  • Pinch of salt: to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberries by rinsing them under cold water and removing any stems or leaves. Mash them lightly in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook the blueberries over medium heat, adding honey or maple syrup, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add chia seeds to the cooked blueberries and stir well. Optionally, add water for a thinner consistency.
  4. Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes to thicken as the chia seeds absorb the liquid.
  5. Transfer the jam to a clean glass jar and allow it to cool before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • Choose fresh, ripe blueberries for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preferences.
  • Frozen blueberries can be used as an alternative to fresh ones.
  • Consider adding spices or other fruits for flavor variations.
