- 1 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped dates
For the cream drizzle, you will need:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients by measuring and mixing the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, and fold in the chopped dates.
- Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40-45 minutes.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the cream drizzle by beating heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until slightly thickened.
- Once the cake is cooled, drizzle the cream over the top and serve.
