Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
- Italian sausage: 1 lb (450 g)
- Onion: 1 medium, diced
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Crushed tomatoes: 28 oz (800 g) can
- Chicken broth: 4 cups (1 liter)
- Lasagna noodles: 8 oz (225 g), broken into pieces
- Ricotta cheese: 1 cup (250 g)
- Shredded mozzarella cheese: 1 cup (100 g)
- Grated Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup (50 g)
- Fresh basil: 1/4 cup, chopped
- Italian seasoning: 1 tablespoon
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add ground beef and Italian sausage, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Add broken lasagna noodles and simmer for 10-12 minutes until tender.
- Stir in ricotta cheese and heat through for 2-3 minutes. Serve topped with mozzarella, Parmesan, and fresh basil.
Notes
- Be careful not to overcook the noodles.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Do not skip the cheese for creaminess.
