Description

A delicious and moist Spiced Date Cake topped with a sweet cinnamon drizzle, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 200 g (1 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 150 g (3/4 cup, packed) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 115 g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 120 ml (1/2 cup) milk
  • 200 g (1 1/2 cups) chopped dates
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the cinnamon drizzle, you will need:

  • 60 g (1/4 cup) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dates by chopping them and soaking in hot water for 10 minutes.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl.
  4. Fold the wet and dry ingredients together, then add the soaked dates.
  5. Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40-45 minutes.
  6. Prepare the cinnamon drizzle while the cake is baking.
  7. Cool the cake, drizzle with cinnamon mixture, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • Use Medjool dates for best results.
  • Adjust spices according to your taste preferences.
  • Consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
