- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2–3 bananas)
- 1/2 cup (90g) dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar (for toffee glaze)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for glaze)
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, then add eggs, vanilla, and mashed bananas.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, and fold in dark chocolate chips.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, then spoon the remaining batter over it and swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and drizzle with toffee glaze.

- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
