- 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder

- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150 g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
- 1 cup (100 g) chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and maple syrup.
- Gradually fold in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts and pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- For the caramel drizzle, combine brown sugar, butter, heavy cream, maple syrup, and salt in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until smooth.
- Drizzle the warm caramel glaze over the cooled cake and allow it to soak in before slicing.
Notes
- Store leftover cake covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
- Freeze the cake for up to 3 months, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil.
- Experiment with different nuts or add fruits for variations.
