- 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened

- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the dates by chopping them and soaking in boiling water with baking soda for 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well, then add vanilla extract.
- Gently fold in flour, baking powder, and salt, then add the soaked dates and their liquid.

- While the cake cools, prepare the caramel sauce by melting butter, then adding brown sugar and heavy cream. Simmer for 5 minutes and stir in vanilla extract.
- Serve the cake warm, drizzled with caramel sauce, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
